Hi Andi, yes there was a thread on the mailing list about using MinGW on Windows, but that didn't come to an end.
I've meanwhile managed to build PyLucene-3.3.3 on Win32(vista) with msvc compiler (Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0 == msvcr90.dll) and Python 2.6. Did also run "make test" without any errors. So here's my +1 for the RC3 from Windows platform perspective.
