One more question..what do you think about installing the gcj 4.2 package for Debian?...by doing this will the compilation work or i will still need to compile the gcj sources?

I don't have a gcj 4.2 for debian. Yesterday, I built a gcj 4.2.0 snapshot for Ubuntu 64. I'm not too keen on uploading this as gcj 4.2.0 is not even released yet, I just built the latest snapshot.

In any case, it's not that hard to build yourself, it takes a few hours depending on the speed of your system. It requires about 1-2 gb of free disk space as well. If you carefully follow the steps outlined yesterday (for instance, don't build gcc inside its source tree), you shouldn't have any problems.

Andi..
