It could be that as root and as regular user you're running different
versions of Python. I find it surprising that the Python you're using was
built with gcc. The one I got by installing Solaris was built with Sun
Studio. If you are indeed seeing different pythons as root or as user then
you're going to be having problems again shortly when jcc is invoked.
As regular user, what does the 'which python' command return ?
