Ironically, we had implemented support for it back in OS 9 and the folks at ATI even went so far as to conspire with us to get it to happen with hardware/firmware support. The majority of that effort lives on in the full-screen stereo in X, but we never got together on sharing the in-a-window stuff with Apple (John Stauffer et al were very busy just getting OGL to run in X.0 at the time). Alas, the OS-side stuff we wrote has no analog in 9 so it is a start-over there.
