Hi Brian, I had exactly the same problem while installing this version of Pymol on WinXP SP2; I could fix this problem by replacing this file from the folder c:\windows\repair to the folder c:\windows\system32. However if it doesn't work (or if the file is absent from this repair folder), you should find a file called autoexec.nt_ in the i386 folder of your installation CD; just type in a command windows:
expand CD-ROM Drive Letter:\i386\autoexec.nt_ c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt If this does not resolve your issue, visit this link: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;324767 You might find here the answer to your question. Hope it helps :-) Cheers Greg -----Original Message----- From: pymol-users-ad...@lists.sourceforge.net [mailto:pymol-users-ad...@lists.sourceforge.net] On Behalf Of Brian A. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application." Has anyone else encountered this error? I don't understand why it should be having trouble with my system. I'm running Windows XP Professional, and I just installed Service Pack 2, and that didn't solve the problem. I've noticed that there is no "AUTOEXEC.NT" file in my System32 folder, which I thought was peculiar. I'm hoping that someone out there would know how I can get around this. In the meantime, I'm going to try installing the Mac version on my powerbook at home. Somehow I suspect the installation will go much smoother on that machine... Thanks in advance, Brian
