Subject: [PyMOL] Appearance of nucleotides in DNA

I am looking at a PDB file (2STW) which has a protein bound to a segment of
DNA.

I am show-ing the DNA strands in "cartoon" fashion, which renders
nucleotides as little stubs.

To make the base composition clearer, I then select the chain elements to
"show-as-stick" to show the nucleotides, also leaving the backbone chains in
cartoon mode

My problem is that "nubs" of the nucleotides stick out of the backbone.
Is there a way to hide them? When I select the nub associated with the
nucleotide, this seems to select all the atoms associated with the
nucleotide, and not the nub.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, and thanks for any tips.
