Dear all,
after upgrading xquartz to the latest version (2.3.2, then 2.3.2.1), I
am left with unusable pymol (installed via fink, pymol-py25 1.1r2-1001).
When rotating objects the screen flickers like a disco strobe.
Unfortunately, xquartz doesn't come with an obvious uninstaller. When I
reinstall the last version that worked (2.3.1) on top of the current
install, X11 stops working completely. The X server never starts up,
crashing with the error message:
Dyld Error Message:
Library not loaded: /usr/X11/lib/libpixman-1.0.dylib
Referenced from: /Applications/Utilities/X11.app/Contents/MacOS/X11.bin
Reason: Incompatible library version: X11.bin requires version 13.0.0
or later, but libpixman-1.0.dylib provides version 12.0.0
Apparently, a newer version of an existing library is required after
installing an older version of X11. Must be some remainder from the
2.3.2 install.
Can anyone guide me out of this mess? How do I remove xquartz
completely? I'd love to use TimeMachine, but I can't just highlight
everything except /Users and /sw and roll back from two months ago.
My system is a MacBook Pro running Leopard with the latest service
packs, bug fixes and security patches.
Thanks a lot.
Andreas
