PyMOL doesn't limit object names like that. What you're probably
seeing is the internal gui cutting off the names. The setting to
change is "internal_gui_width":

set internal_gui_width, 260

There's also a slider that you can drag using the mouse--it's the tiny
tab between the command line and the movie controls. Drag that left or
right.
