I'm trying to understand the map_new command, especially the "gaussian" option.
What determines the shape of the gaussian function? What is the relationship between the "b" factor and the variance (or the full-width-half-maxium) of the gaussian? How is the map normalized? What does the "grid" option of the map_new command do? And the gaussian_resolution setting?
