Did you try to run the benchmarks with a more recent version of PyPy?
According to this chart, we are up to 30% faster than 1.5 on some benchmarks,
so you might get even better results:
Not yet, I like to leave some further excitement for later :-)
From now on, I plan to track the evolution of my benchmarks
with official PyPy releases.

With PyPy 1.6, I see additional significant improvements (probably
also thanks to the generator-specific speedup). Speedup compared
to cPython is now 8-20x (was 6-12x).
