The Nintendo DS was first released in 2004, and it quickly became a fan
favorite. Since then, it has become one of the best-selling handheld consoles
in history, with more than 150 million units sold worldwide. One of the great
features of the DS was its online multiplayer capability, which allowed players
to compete against each other over the internet. But now, nearly two decades
after its release, fans are wondering: Are Nintendo DS servers still up?

The short answer is no, the Nintendo DS servers are no longer up. In 2014,
Nintendo officially ended support for online multiplayer for the DS and Wii
systems. At this time, they shut down the servers for games like Mario Kart DS,
Animal Crossing: Wild World, and Metroid Prime Hunters. While players are still
able to play these games in single-player mode, the online multiplayer
capabilities have been lost.

However, there are still some ways to enjoy online multiplayer with your
Nintendo DS. Some games, such as Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold,
and SoulSilver, still have online capabilities through the use of the Nintendo
Wi-Fi Connection. This service was originally shut down in 2014, but it was
brought back in 2020 by a group of fans who created an emulator called AltWFC.
This allows players to connect and play with each other online again.

Another option for DS players is using third-party services like Wiimmfi, which
can simulate online play for games that no longer have official online support.
While the use of these services is not endorsed by Nintendo, it is an option
for players who want to continue playing their favorite games online.

It’s worth noting that even though the Nintendo DS servers are no longer up,
there are still plenty of great games available to play on the console. Classic
titles like New Super Mario Bros, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, and
Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story are still just as enjoyable to play today
as they were when they were first released.

While the official Nintendo DS servers are no longer up, there are still ways
for players to enjoy online multiplayer with their favorite DS games.
Third-party services and fan-made emulators allow players to connect and play
together, while classic single-player games remain just as enjoyable as ever.
Despite the loss of some features, the Nintendo DS remains a beloved console
that has brought joy to millions of gamers around the world. You can also get
