I have released pypy8.0.1, a follow on "bug-fix" (well, it was supposed to be a bug-fix but grew and grew) release after 8.0.1. With this, PyPy8 should work with more c-extensions via PyO3 and I hope I have found the last of the buffer release compatibility problems.
