Milton Thomas: To reproduce: ``` import os os.rename( bytes("a", "utf8"), bytes("b", "utf8")) ``` result: ``` RPython traceback: File "implement_8.c", line 402, in BuiltinActivation_UwS_ObjSpace_W_Root_W_Root_kwo_3 File "pypy_module_posix.c", line 18574, in dispatch__star_0_2 Fatal RPython error: AssertionError ``` Discovered this because a library in the wild opened a file in read-binary mode and pulled the file path out as bytes. Works in CPython 3.7.3. OS is Windows 10, PyPy version is PyPy3.6 7.1.1. _______________________________________________ pypy-issue mailing list pypy-issue@python.org https://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/pypy-issue
