This is due to your fairly new Qt version. Does PyQt 3.7 work for
you? Try running some examples. For what I know, PyQt 3.8 is the first
one supporting Qt 3.2.

Oh, I know what you mean. I tried the examples doing this:

DeBiaN:/home/menda/PyQt-x11-gpl-3.7/examples2# python2.3 aclock.py
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified
aclock.py: cannot connect to X server :0.0
--------------------------------------------
As root I get an error message, but as a normal user the clock works well, so the PyQT 3.7 works well.
