I comment my own mail - a build with 3.2.3 works now, so I suppose my assumption is true: 3.3.0 is not supported with the official deliveries. I got information that CVS checkouts of PyQt compile with 3.3.0, but the official releases obviously don't. For me it's not important, I'm happy with 3.2.3.
