Thanks for confirming the presence of this problem on Debian.

Fedora released the stable RPM for Qt 4.2.2 recently and this bug seems to
have been fixed.

Yes, Debian Sid here, same problem with qtconfig-qt4 itself. So I
suggest you take this either to the qt-interest list or directly as a
bugreport to qt-bugs at trolltech com
