The same thing happened to me. I ended up getting one AIBO from ebay and another from a user at the AIBO Life website (http://www.aibo- life.org/) where they have a classifieds section. One cost me a little more than the original retail price, the other a little bit less. In addition, Sony will be maintaining repair and support for AIBO through 2011 on the ERS7 models and 2013 on ERS7-M3 models.
One word of caution though is that there are lots of AIBO scams on e- bay but if you are reasonably careful it isn't too hard to tell a real auction from a scam.
