Uh... this works for me:
>>> f.root.events.table.flavor
'numpy'
>>> type(f.root.events.table.col('mass'))
<type 'numpy.ndarray'>

How did you build the table with flavor 'numpy'?. Remember that it is
necessary to declare the line:
_v_flavor = "numpy"
in the description of your table (i.e before creating it on disk). Setting
the '_v_favor' alone is not enough.
