Well, considering that Travis Oliphant has announced a NumPy 1.0 release for 
next October, it's doubtful that PyTables 2.0 (which is tagged to have NumPy 
at its core) will be in-time.

Anyway, meanwhile the array protocol used in PyTables 1.x series will be just 
fine for most of usages with NumPy (unless you want extreme speed in 
scenarios like indexing, which is the target of the PyTables Pro edition).
