Yep. Personally, I'm working with HDF5 1.6, since that's what ships with
my linux distribution.

Sure. My code was just a first post to get some comments by more
experienced programmers. So, certainly, I'll document it more.

That changes everything. Unfortunately, I started my code before you,
otherwise I would have used it. I'll have to change a whole lot,
that will take some time...
