Thank you for looking into this. I've created a ticket: http://www.pytables.org/trac/ticket/294 with priority minor since this only came up now and I only use it for letting python start a few instances of the same simulation with different parameters. The final simulation runs on a linux machine with pytables 2.1.2 without problems.
