This issue affects me also because I maintain a project that I did not author. However, PyPI lists me as the author because of distutils's maintainer/author replacement logic when generating PKG-INFO. This issue has come up before, and PyPI continues to list "maintainers" as "authors" because of it. Whether or not we start sending both pieces of data, can PyPI perhaps be updated to display "Contact" instead of "Author" when Metadata-Version 1.1 is used?
