R. David Murray added the comment: I don't really have strong feelings about this, but I will just note as a data point that I implemented parameterized tests for the email package, and have no interest myself in subtests. This is for exactly the collection time vs runtime reason that Michael is talking about (I always want to be able to run single tests by name).
