Nick Coghlan added the comment: Armin pointed out in http://lucumr.pocoo.org/2013/5/21/porting-to-python-3-redux/ that one nasty consequence of the remaining part of issue 2226 and this bug is making it much harder than it should be to use the ItemsView, KeysView and ValuesView from collections.abc to implement third party mappings that behave like the builtin dict.
