Antoine Pitrou added the comment: Mark, thanks for the patch. However, unless exceptional situations, we don't backport features to bugfix branches. The next Python 2.7 version will probably not be released before 2014, so even if your patch were integrated, widespread deployment would still be delayed significantly. By contrast, Python 3.2 has SNI support and it was released in February 2011.
