ThurnerRupert added the comment: david, you mentioned working code. i am the opposite of an expert in the source code of python, but i thought i would be able to at least find where the code is for sys.stdout.write and sys.stderr.write, where i thought \ should be replaced by / when running in cygwin or msys/mingw. embarrassing for me, i did not find it.
