I have also had this problem.
The way I solved it was to undef _DEBUG before including python and then
redefine it again:
#undef _DEBUG //Prevent linking debug build of python
#include <Python.h>
#define _DEBUG 1
This is just a hack though and it would be interesting to know if there is a
correct way to do it.
