Martin Panter added the comment: I take back my claim about it being easy to fix tkinter with the existing API. My ideas break down because PyOS_InputHook() is used differently in Parser/myreadline.c to Modules/readline.c. So think if we want proper compatibility, a separate hook API might be needed.
