Eric V. Smith added the comment: Both of those are known (to me!) byproducts of the current implementation. If my crazy idea of adding opcodes to speed up f-strings flies, then this issue will go away. I consider this a corner case that doesn't need to be addressed before committing this code. I wouldn't emulate it one way or the other just yet.
