New submission from Paul Chew <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: When the latest Mac installer (Python 2.5.2 for Macintosh OS X) is used on a new Mac (10.5.4) the resulting IDLE does not have a Preferences... entry in its File menu. The only fix that I've found is to use the previous Mac installer (python-2.5.1-macosx.dmg).
