anyway, can u elaborate on the "reason" y something like this was never done? yes, i kno the patch is rough right now (& will never get accepted in its current state), but its now proven to work, & gives migrating developers *something* to test their py3k_syntax code while *still* maintaining compatibility w/ python2.x extension modules. isn't that the spirit of python 2.7? in the meantime, i'm in no hurry to have anything committed.
