Thank you for the suggestion and the nice work. I'm going to decline adding this to our docs because it isn't in the spirit of the other recipes (reasonably common task, reasonably simple, and/or showing off effective combinations of the other itertools). Though the docs aren't the right place for this, it would be nice if you published a blog post or some such to show off your work, detail the though processes, and illustrate how you measured performance).
