I will note that this means with:
class BaseClass(ABC):
pass
class MyDerivedClass(BaseClass):
def __init__(self, thing):
self.thing = thing
thing = MyDerivedClass()
thing now has both __slots__ and, evidently, a dict. That's a bit weird and
confusing.
