Ronald Oussoren <ronaldousso...@mac.com> added the comment: The lack of a preferences menu is a bug: the current revisions of python contain some code to detect a recent version of Tcl/Tk, used to create the Preferences... menu in different way. Sadly enough this code is buggy, the end result is that you will not have a IDLE->Preferences...' menu when using the system version of Tcl/Tk.
