I suggested that we create a bug that documents the core problem here as described by Vinay in msg89174 and links to these two bugs (along with any others we find) as examples of the types of symptoms that can come from this bug. At that point, the merits of working around this bug in python versus documenting the problem for python users to work around it can be discussed and a decision can be made. Thoughts?
