If you create a new one on the performance issue, please make sure to include a repeatable test case, with instructions on how to repeat it. Notice that Jesus suggests that the performance difference may be caused by the difference in bsddb version, in which case it wouldn't be a Python bug at all. I find that theory very plausible.
