What is the status of this issue? A grep for _PyUnicode_AsString quickly
revealed a crash:
>>> from xml.etree.cElementTree import *
>>> e = Element('a')
>>> getattr(e, '\uD800')
Segmentation fault
I don't think this is the only one.
