Thanks Jim, I have integrated your fixes.
Next time, do not hesitate to create a new issue in JIRA (with an attached patch). This enables us to track the changes made and automatically build the release notes, as in :

I should have thought of that! :)
My next little fix will be in configure.in. I'd like configure to find the proper location of flex. And yes, I will create an issue in JIRA this time.
