Can I draw python-dev's attention to http://bugs.python.org/issue3496 ?
Without this fix, distutils doesn't support the new version of binutils (which is probably coming into more common use). It would be good if this could be fixed for 2.6. I've attached a patch to the issue report, could someone possibly check it over and apply if appropriate?
