There's a problem with the poll's placement: on the front page of the PyPI website. I only know about the poll because you said there was one, and I went hunting for it. The front page of PyPI is not one I ever visit, as a package maintainer; I'll visit the pages for the packages I maintain, or make a specific search of packages I'm looking for. So, the poll's audience is limited to those who visit the front page (which is hardly ever necessary for package maintainers), and those who already know it exists (e.g. through this discussion thread).
