Can we call it something else though? "Voting" reminds me too much of situations where people who don't do anything get to say what they want others to do. That doesn't sit well in a volunteer-run open source project. But it makes total sense to have e.g. the users of the language express their needs or desires in a way that can guide volunteers looking for a project in their selection of the most important goals. For this some kind of "poll" makes sense -- the outcome is not binding and the assumption is that only a small representation of users express an opinion, but polls (when used properly) can still be very useful. As long as other forms of feedback aren't suppressed of frowned upon -- not every need can conveniently be expressed in a binary choice. -- --Guido van Rossum (python.org/~guido) _______________________________________________ Python-Dev mailing list Python-Dev@python.org http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/python-dev Unsubscribe: http://mail.python.org/mailman/options/python-dev/archive%40mail-archive.com
