You could take a look at http://bugs.python.org/issue12326 The current 2.7 branch should work for you, you'll have to get it from the Mercurial repository. That says, the plat-* stuff is quite useless as it is. There's a patch here to improve its usefulness slightly: http://bugs.python.org/issue12619 Although I would question the existence of such undocumented modules, which are hardly even used internally.
