if you want it for debugging, then static type checkers can do that for you.

Then use Java or C++ -- the benefits of Python are not primarily
the syntax, but it's dynamic nature.

Though this does bring up an interesting (to the ignorant of most things
typing me) question: Do the static type checkers support the concept of
private attributes?

That might be a nice feature.
