Hello folks, Today I chatted with Jesse Noller <http://jessenoller.com/>, who is one of the people pushing the PSF's Python Sprints <http://pythonsprints.com/>project. We were both excited about the idea of having a PSF-funded Israeli Python sprint.
What this means is that a bunch of us can get together and hack on a Python-related project, and the PSF will fund the pizza/drinks/whatever else we'll need, up to $300. We will also take photos and make a post about our sprint on the Python Sprints blog <http://pythonsprints.com>. There are already posts there about sprints in the USA, South Africa, Canada, Switzerland, etc., and I feel that some Israeli representation is in order. The subject of the sprint can really be anything that benefits the Python ecosystem. A few examples: Porting Django (or any other project) to Python 3, contributing to popular Python packages, contributing to Python core itself, whether by code, documentation, bug triaging, whatever you want. See the official call for applications <http://pythonsprints.com/cfa/> for more details. Would anyone be interested in participating in such a sprint? I'll be happy to hear suggestions for Python projects that you want to work on. My favorite suggestion: Porting Pip to Python 3! Ram.
