Well, most of the Linux kernel is written in C and while there *is* a jump (often JMP) in most asms, you should only do so if you really need to. JSR (jump sub routine) is a better idea in many (most?) cases. You can write really nice structured assembly just as you can with most languages - depending on the assembly language, platform, etc. GOTO is still generally a bad idea, and most of the people that use it can't tell the difference between a good and a bad time to use it.
