I went to Python.org and struggled with the small pale-blue-on-white font. (Why
do they do that?) but had no luck.

Assuming you have a 64-bit Intel/AMD PC:
Go to https://www.python.org/downloads/windows/.
Click on "Download Windows installer (64-bit)
<https://www.python.org/ftp/python/3.13.9/python-3.13.9-amd64.exe>".
That will download the installer, which is at
https://www.python.org/ftp/python/3.13.9/python-3.13.9-amd64.exe.
I don't remember ever having a problem installing Python on Windows.
(I've recently switched to Linux.)
