The Multi-column layout module is currently a working draft and, as I recall, a relatively vague one at that. It would be rather foolish to produce anything but a proof-of-concept implementation until its various aspects are finalised. [Aside] If I remember correctly, Mozilla implemented the W3C DOM Level 3 Events module, which introduced a keyboard event type (KeyEvent). In a later revision, this interface name was replaced with TextEvent. Later on, a similarly named interface (KeyboardEvent) was introduced, focusing specifically on low-level keyboard events. These radical changes wouldn't mean very much had Mozilla waited. The DOM Level 3 Events module has been a Working Group Note since November 2003. This probably marks the end of its development.
