Hi, using Pre-Depends to fix this bug is not going to work. Furthermore, it is a policy violation for having added it without discussion on debian-devel.
The real issue here is that pyversions is not reliable. You should achieve a much better result by using $(readlink /usr/bin/python). (I guess python-gnome2, from which this code was copied, has the same issue, but it remained under the radar as the gnome-vfs python method is very rarely used.)
