kombu 1.2.1 depends on amqplib >= 1.0, Debian currently has 0.6.1. I've tried to build an updated package for amqplib but there's an issue with the upstream tarballs: http://code.google.com/p/py-amqplib/issues/detail?id=36 As for your offer to help: I'll need a sponsor for kombu-1.2.1-1 once amqplib is up to date in the archive.
