Package: python-docutils
Version: 0.3+cvs20030901-2
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

I wnated to uses python-docutils to build the Debian zope-book package.
Currently I'm using a version of StructuredText which once was shipped
with the Zope Book in the time when it was disrtibuted via CVS. Now it
is using BackTalk technology with a reStructuredText version implemented
in Zope.

Compared to this the current python-docutils is quite poor because it
does not render heading tags (<h1>/<h2> for HTML or \section/\subsection
for LaTeX) but very poor <p>/<blockquote> or \begin{quote} which makes
this package unuseable for the intended purpose. I'd suggest to have
a view into the Zope internals for better rendering.

Kind regards

         Andreas.

* Andreas Tille <[email protected]>, 2003-09-30, 22:23:
what I need is a online tool which processes Zope-Book source to well and reasonable formatted HTML (and other formats). If this is not the intenion of docutils we should close this bug report.

The feature request to implement StructuredText parser in docutils is now 8 years old, and it doesn't look like it will be ever carried out.

Nobody seems to be using StructuredText anymore, Zope Book is no longer in Debian, and it seems it has been converted to reStructuredText upstream.

Therefore I'm closing the bug now. Of course, if you feel that the feature still merits implementation, feel free to reopen the bug.
